DTS fundamentals workshop in Amsterdam
The DTS Foundational Workshop is a 5 day programme that exists to equip those staffing and interested staffing Discipleship Training Schools within Youth with a Mission. Our DTS team went to Amsterdam for a week of equipping, training and then also for a week of outreach on the streets of Amsterdam. During these two weeks we looking at different core topics within a DTS and how do we best share what we carry. Also what does a disciple of Jesus actually look like, YWAM values, legacy and vision for running Discipleship Training schools.
For the second week, we actually felt God challenging us to give away what we have. We were challenged by a scripture in Luke 16, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much”. In a city filled with a lot of confusion and fear, there is a great need for the Light of Jesus.
One morning we had a time of Intercession in the prayer-house that overlooks the city. As we were praying for Amsterdam a rainbow emerged over the city reminding us of His promises for the city. During our time of prayer, God showed us his heart for Amsterdam. We felt Amsterdam called to be a catalyst city of Light and Purity for many others and began to release identity over the city. As we were beginning to finish up, there in the horizon stood another rainbow confirming Gods hand at work right now!! It was such a privilege to pray for this city with an incredible destiny.
Along with praying for people on the streets we also went into coffee shops, open for conversations with anyone God was highlighting. One afternoon we went into Starbucks and began to chat with a man, remembering Gods heart of generosity, we sat and listened to him share his vision while each of us were able to share our testimonies. Alex was able to give him an artistic picture which he enjoyed. After talking for about two hours we prayed for him and his son. God definitely used us to be his ears and voice to that man in Starbucks that afternoon.
God shared with each of us the incredible inheritance we have not only in YWAM but also in the nations.
